General Responsibilities

 

House Coverage & Resident Support

  • Provide in-house coverage by being present on-site, answering the doorbell and business phone line, receiving donations, and directing residents with questions as needed
  • Ensure safety within the home and uphold house rules.
  • Assist with childcare/babysitting for residents as needed
  • Manage the Love Box email (love@inmyshoes.org).

Operational & Administrative Support

  • Prepare rooms for new residents, including setup, bedspreads, and welcome materials.
  • Create and maintain:
    • Welcome signs and welcome baskets
    • Weekly chore charts
    • Weekly room check slips
    • “I Noticed” cards
    • “Footprints” for Tuesday Community Night
    • Handouts and materials for the community room
    • Intake binders for incoming moms
  • Assist with light housekeeping to support daily home operations.
  • Support preparation for baby showers, gender reveals, and other house events.
  • Provide filing and general administrative support.
  • Assist with additional operational tasks assigned during coverage shifts.

 

 

Professional Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Passion for service, especially supporting women and children.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Able to engage and interact with diverse groups of people.
  • Adult & Infant CPR certification preferred.
  • Trauma-aware, compassionate approach when interacting with residents
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and steady in emotionally charged or sensitive situations.
  • Understands how to support individuals who may be overwhelmed, anxious, or dysregulated without taking things personally.
  • Able to set and hold healthy boundaries lovingly and consistently.
  • Respectful, nonjudgmental communication style with women of diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Willingness to learn and follow trauma-informed care principles used at In My Shoes.

 

Schedule

This position is 24 hours per week and requires on-site presence at the maternity home in West Dallas during assigned coverage shifts. A valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required. Must complete required training prior to assuming independent house coverage responsibilities and participate in ongoing training throughout employment. The hourly rate is $15/hour.
