Job description

About the Role

St. Paul’s Ocean Grove Church is a dynamic church with a unique ministry context, gathering indoors for 35 weeks of the year and outdoors on the boardwalk for Beach Church each summer.

This individual will provide visionary leadership and pastoral care for our Next Gen Ministries, overseeing Anchored Kids (Nursery–5th Grade) and Anchored Students (6th–12th Grade). The right candidate will cultivate a thriving ministry culture where children, students, parents, and volunteers are known, loved, discipled, and equipped to grow in their faith.

Responsibilities

The Family Ministries Director will lead Anchored Kids on Sunday mornings, recruiting, training, and shepherding volunteers while overseeing all children’s environments from nursery through 5th grade. They will also lead Anchored Students, including Sunday night gatherings, small middle- and high-school groups, an annual student retreat, and monthly service opportunities. Beyond Sunday ministry, this role is responsible for building a clear discipleship pathway from nursery through high school graduation, partnering with parents as the primary spiritual influence in their children’s lives, and planning family-centered ministry events throughout the year. The director will also recruit, develop, and disciple volunteers across all areas of Family Ministries and handle ministry administration, including calendars, budgets, communication, and adherence to church safety policies.

What We’re Looking For

  • A vibrant, growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with SPOGC’s theology and mission
  • Genuine passion for discipling children, students, and families; experience in children’s ministry, student ministry, family ministry, or related leadership roles preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • A collaborative team player who works well with staff, volunteers, parents, and church leadership.
  • Ability to understand, honor, and build meaningful partnerships across generations within the church.
  • Ability to teach and engage children and teenagers with biblical truth in age-appropriate, compelling, and spiritually formative ways.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams
  • Self-motivated and capable of managing ministry responsibilities independently

Schedule

Flexible scheduling with some fixed commitments, such as Sunday services, weekly staff meetings, and regular leadership meetings, and a collaborative, supportive staff culture. Regular ministry rhythms include Sunday morning worship and Anchored Kids, Sunday night Anchored Students, weeknight student small groups, weekly staff meetings, and monthly leadership meetings. This role is intentionally designed with sustainable rhythms and strong volunteer partnerships. As ministry opportunities grow, additional leadership opportunities for position growth may develop over time.

If you are passionate about investing in the next generation and helping families flourish in their faith, we’d love to hear from you.

Note: Must be able to successfully complete and maintain all Safe Sanctuary requirements, including background checks, reference verification, and required training.
